Area: 1,100 SqFt
Status: Built, 2023
Location: San Diego, CA
First constructed in 1919 as a farm-cottage on a half-acre hillside garden overlooking downtown San Diego and the Coronado Bridge, this home needed to adapt to a young couple, both working from home and intending to start a family.
The scope was a major remodel with an addition to the 900 SqFt original structure. Inspired by the home's existing curved beams, the new addition features a complementary arched roof, continuing the architectural language.
To make generous and functional spaces within the limited footprint, a custom 8-foot diameter three-wing revolving door was introduced not only to partition the rooms, but also to playfully reconfigures the space for different functions throughout the day.
